However, various debates have raged on whether feminism has been beneficial or harmful to the American society.The rise of feminism movements has been deemed beneficial as it has helped women overcome subjugation and the various stereotypes they earlier faced. The feminism efforts have ensured that the American woman has a near equal position and no longer considered inferior to the men. Feminism efforts have ensured women enjoy the same civil rights and civil liberties that the men enjoy. Through feminism, the American woman c an now vote, own a business and hold a political position (McRobbie, 2011).However, feminism has proved to be detrimental to the American society, as women no longer fancy the traditional family values. A huge number of American women have abandoned the traditional family values and have opted for contemporary values by choosing to remain single. This has left the women to become radical leftists who believe they are entitled to reparations when it comes to receiving good grades and job opportunities (Buchanan, 2011). In addition, the women have become committed to infidelity and lesbianism, posing a danger to the very fabric famed in the American society.Feminism has also been harmful to the American society, as it has undermined child rearing. While chasing their career paths, women have abandoned their core function of child rearing and have become dependent on childcare facilities. This has in turn led to bad kids who lack discipline, face childhood obesity and unbridled bullies (Walby, 2011). Due to the bad upbringing, more and more American kids are ending up in crime.
